Sirenitas de Popoyo is a non-profit project that a friend and I founded together in March 2017. The program is designed to empower local girls through surfing, swimming and education. The project runs weekly and there are roughly 15 to 20 participants at a time. Our mission is to create a safe space for these girls to challenge their fears, learn something new, to have fun and give them the gift of connecting with the ocean. Our goals are to provide weekly surf/swim lessons and education to expand their opportunities and the program also sponsors English, computer and Taekwondo classes.​ We want to make sure that the girls get all the opportunities possible to acknowledge the power they have within and we want to show our Sirenitas that with focus and dedication, anything is possible!
